Well, it's that time again....

My baby of my two babies will be 2 soon, REALLY soon.....this weekend soon!  We have decided to have a Red, Black and White Mickey Mouse themed party.  Sorry, I have this thing against bright obnoxious primary colors.  When I see those colors together it is like nails on a chalkboard.  So I have opted for red, black and white.

We are also going to be telling the girls about our Disney trip.  WooHoo!!  Can't wait to get THAT cat out of the bag!  You know I will let you know how it goes, may even get a pic or two or even a video of it.

No party is complete without some sort of cake.  I have been going back and forth for a month 3 months about the cake.  UGH!  I was first going to do cake pops in the shape of Mickey's head (then quickly came back to reality)!  Then I was going to have my VERY talented friend Kandi make it but she is on a much needed and deserved vaca this week.  So today, 5 days before the party, I have decided what I am going to do!

Growing up when we went to Freddie's I would ALWAYS order a Shirley Temple.  We now order them for the girls when we go somewhere special and fun.  There is a reason I am telling you this....give me a second....

I was searching one of my FAVORITE food bloggers, I just KNEW she would have SOMETHING, and found it!!!

Isn't that CUTE??

Guess what it is??  Well, those of you that are my FB friends already know the answer but for those that aren't and don't.......

OMG!  I can not wait to make them!  How fun!  Her recipe calls for a homemade Grenadine that I also plan to make.  This should be fun!  I will of course let you know about the outcome next week, once I de-stress!

Strawberries and Cream Instant Oatmeal | Recipe

I don't know about you but, we go through oatmeal like that is the only thing to eat on this planet!   Seriously a TON! My youngest would eat it for every meal and snack....every day....if I let her. Yes, the little packs can be cheap (if you can find a coupon and get them on sale) but it still adds up.  I used things I already had on hand so there was no extra cost to make this.  FREE is ALWAYS good!   I tried before to make little packets to keep on hand but that was a complete fail.  I have since reworked the recipe and am happy with the results.  I decided to just keep the oatmeal in a glass container this time and scoop out what we need, when we need it.  You can also make this into packets by just scooping the desired amount into zip-top bags. {Strawberries & Cream Instant Oatmeal}   12 Servings 6 Cups Quick Cook Oats 1 1/2 Cups Oat Powder 2 Cups Powdered Milk 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Cup Freeze Dried Strawberries Directions f

Granny's Flitters

I love my family!  There are so many things I love about each person and also about all of us as a whole.  One of the things I love about my family is we love traditions. Today I am going to share just one of the many traditions we have.....FLITTERS! To me when I think of comfort food, I think of Flitters.  It was a special morning to wake up to the delicious smell of flitters frying in the morning.  It is one smell that every time I smell I am brought right back to childhood and great memories. I am not really sure where the name "flitters" came from or if someone just made it up.  I can tell you how it got started though! My Great, Great Uncle Orville's mom (Grandma Cook) baked bread.  On the days she would make extra bread dough she would invite all of her grandkids over for a flitter night.  She would make her bread and then the extra dough she would roll out, cut into strips and fry up for the kids to enjoy.  That tradition was then passed to my
